Borger is a town in the Dutch province of Drenthe. It is a part of the municipality of Borger-Odoorn, and lies about 18 km east of Assen. In 2001, the town of Borger had 4724 inhabitants. The built-up area of the town was 1.6 km², and contained 2058 residences. The statistical area "Borger", which also can include the surrounding countryside, has a population of around 5110. Until 1998, Borger was a separate municipality.

Ees, Drenthe

Ees is a town in the Dutch province of Drenthe. It is a part of the municipality of Borger-Odoorn, and lies about 17 km north of Emmen. The statistical area "Ees", which also can include the surrounding countryside, has a population of around 380. Hondsrug

The Hondsrug is a Dutch ridge of sand that is mainly located in the province Drenthe and partly in the province Groningen. The spur of the Hondsrug in Groningen has led to the creation of various villages build on artificial dwelling hills: Adorp, Sauwerd, Wetsinge, Winsum, Baflo, Rasquert, Warffum, Usquert, Rottum. The name "Hondsrug" would appear to be taken from the Dutch word for "dog" or "hound" (hond) and the word for a "back" or "ridge" (rug).
