Koningsbosch

Koningsbosch is a village within the municipality of Echt-Susteren, in the Dutch province of Limburg. Koningsbosch is located next to the German border, approximately 10 kilometres east of the town of Echt. The neighbourhood of Koningsbosch, which also includes the hamlets Echterbosch, Spaanshuisken, Aan Reijans and the surrounding countryside, covers an area of 0.27 km², has 1.711 inhabitants (as of 1 May 2005) and consists of some 700 houses.

Susteren

Susteren is a city in the Dutch province of Limburg. It is located in the municipality of Echt-Susteren, about 7 km northwest of Sittard. It was a separate municipality until 2003, when it was merged with Echt. Susteren received town privileges in 1276. Susteren harboured the Benedictine Abbey Susteren, that was founded in the 8th century and was closed at the end of the 18th century. Its Romanesque church was raised to the status of a basilica in 2007 by pope Benedict XVI.

Nieuwstadt

Nieuwstadt is a city in the Dutch province of Limburg. It is a part of the municipality of Echt-Susteren, and lies about 5 km north of Sittard. In 2001, Nieuwstadt had 3088 inhabitants. The built-up area of the town was 0.74 km², and contained 1235 residences. Nieuwstadt received city rights in 1271. It was a separate municipality until 1982, when it was merged with Susteren.

Susteren Abbey

Susteren Abbey (Abdij van Susteren) is a former Benedictine abbey at Susteren near Roermond, Limburg, Netherlands founded in the 8th century. The former abbey church is now St. Amelberga Basilica.

Broeksittard

Broeksittard is a former village in the Dutch province of Limburg. It is now a neighbourhood of the town Sittard, and part of the municipality of Sittard-Geleen. It has partly kept its village character. Broeksittard was a separate municipality between 1817 and 1942, when it was merged with Sittard by the German occupier. From 24 March to 28 March 1543 Broeksittard was almost completely destroyed during the battle for the Kemperkoul.
