Wairoa

Wairoa is a town in New Zealand's North Island. It is the northernmost town in the Hawke's Bay region, and is located on the northern shore of Hawke Bay at the mouth of the Wairoa River and to the west of Mahia Peninsula. It is 70 kilometres northeast of Napier, and a similar distance southwest of Gisborne. Wairoa is Māori for long water. Early settlement in the area included a whaling station and trading post, dealing largely in flax.

Waihua River

The Waihua River is a river of the northern Hawke's Bay Region of New Zealand's North Island. Its course roughly parallels that of its northern neighbour, the Waiau River. The Waihua rises in rough hill country north of Raupunga, flowing initially east before turning southeast to reach Hawke Bay 15 kilometres west of Wairoa.

Wairoa College

Wairoa College is a secondary school. It was expanded to include students from years 7 and 8 in 2005. A building project to accommodate the increased roll was complete by 2008.

Waiau River (Hawke's Bay)

Hawke's Bay's Waiau River is one of at least four rivers of this name in New Zealand. It rises in the Kaingaroa Forest to the west of Lake Waikaremoana, and flows southeast for 60 kilometres before joining the Wairoa River.
