Ohura

Ohura is a small town in the west of the North Island of New Zealand. It is located to the west of Taumarunui in the area known as the King Country, in inland Manawatu-Wanganui. it lies on the banks of the Mangaroa River, a tributary of the Ohura River which is a tributary of the Whanganui River. Ohura was the center for coal mining in the region with coal mines operating through to circa 1965, where previously the mines and railway network had been a major part of local industry.

Taumona River

The Taumona River is a river of the Manawatu-Wanganui Region of New Zealand's North Island. It flows southwest from its origins 12 kilometres west of Taumarunui to reach the Ohura River.

Mount Damper Falls

Mount Damper Falls is a waterfall on the North Island of New Zealand. It is located in the Stratford District in Taranaki. At 74 metres, the falls are one of the highest in the North Island, although they rank behind Wairere, Ananui and Waitakere Falls. It is sometimes claimed that it is also the second highest falls in New Zealand but this is incorrect. Mount Damper Falls is dwarfed by many waterfalls on the South Island such as Browne Falls (619m or 836m) and Sutherland Falls (580m).

Ohura River

The Ohura River is a river of the western North Island of New Zealand. Retaruke River

The Retaruke River is a river on the North Island of New Zealand. It joins with the Whanganui River just above Wade's Landing and downstream from Taumarunui. The river flows through the farming communities of Upper and then Lower Retaruke Valley. Downstream from this junction is the Mangapurua Landing with its Bridge to Nowhere, servicing the ill-fated Mangapurua Valley farming community.
