The Mangaturuturu River is a river of the centre of New Zealand's North Island. One of the headwaters of the Manganui o te Ao River, it flows west from the slopes of Mount Ruapehu, joining with numerous other small rivers to become the Manganui o Te Ao 20 kilometres northwest of Ohakune.

Makatote River

The Makatote River is a river of the centre of New Zealand's North Island. It flows west from the slopes of Mount Ruapehu before entering rough hill country and veering southwest. Waimarino Museum

The Waimarino Museum in Raetihi township chronicles the people, events, and history of the Central Plateau region of New Zealand's North Island. The Museum includes the railway station building from the terminus of the Raetihi Branch. It was originally situated on Station Road which lies off to the right over the Makotuku River bridge on the road to Ohakune. The railway reached Raetihi in 1917 and played a vital part in the logging industry.

Raetihi

Raetihi is a town in the central North Island of New Zealand. It is located at the junction of State Highways 4 and 49, 11 kilometres west of Ohakune. The 2006 New Zealand Census of Population and Dwellings recorded its population as 1,035. This constitutes a decrease of 3.4% or 36 people since the 2001 census. 58.2% of residents identified as Māori. The Waimarino stretches from Mount Ruapehu to the Wanganui River encompassing Raetihi, Pipiriki, Karioi, Horopito, Waiouru, Rangataua and Ohakune.

North Island Main Trunk

|} The North Island Main Trunk (NIMT) is the main railway line in the North Island of New Zealand, linking Wellington, the capital, and Auckland, the largest city, via Paraparaumu, Palmerston North, Taihape, National Park, Taumarunui, Te Kuiti, Hamilton, and Pukekohe. It is 681 kilometres in length, built to the standard New Zealand rail gauge of 1067.
