Peria, Northland

Peria is a locality in Northland, New Zealand. It lies south of Taipa and east of Kaitaia. The area was once known as Oruru Valley. Wiremu Hoani Taua, who later became the first Maori person to be appointed as the head teacher of a native school, served on the Peria Native School Committee up until 1900.

The Oruru River is a river of the Northland Region of New Zealand's North Island. It flows north from its solurces south of Mangonui to reach the Taipa River five kilometres from Taipa.

Taipa-Mangonui

Taipa-Mangonui is one name given to a string of small resort settlements in the far north of New Zealand's North Auckland Peninsula, close to the base of the Aupouri Peninsula. The resorts of Taipa, Cable Bay, Coopers Beach, and Mangonui, all of which lie along the coast of Doubtless Bay, are so close together that they have run together to form one larger settlement with a combined population of 1566 (2006 census).
