Pine Bush, New Zealand

Pine Bush is a locality in the Southland Region of New Zealand's South Island. It is situated near the eastern bank of the lower Mataura River. From 1899 until 1966, the Tokanui Branch railway passed just south of Pine Bush, with a station in neighbouring Titiroa. Other nearby settlements include Waimahaka to the south, Glenham and Mataura Island to the north, and across the Mataura, Gorge Road to the west.

Titiroa

Titiroa is a locality in the Southland Region of New Zealand's South Island. It is on the eastern bank of the lower Mataura River, inland from Toetoes Bay. Pine Bush is nearby to the northeast, and Waimahaka is to the southeast.

Mokoreta River

The Mokoreta River is a river in Southland, New Zealand. A tributary of the Mataura River, its source is between Mt Rosebery and Catlins Cone, close to the source of the Catlins River. It flows westward from the Catlins Ranges into the Southland Plains. Its total length is 50 kilometres, and it flows into the Mataura River about 5km south of the town of Wyndham.

Gorge Road

Gorge Road is a locality in the Southland Region of New Zealand's South Island. It is on the Southern Scenic Route and is situated on the western bank of the Mataura River. Nearby settlements include Ashers to the west, and across the Mataura, Pine Bush and Titiroa to the east. The name Gorge Road derives from the main 19th century overland route, which was along a Bush lined valley and gave the appearance of a gorge.

Wyndham, New Zealand

Wyndham is a rural town of 550 people in the South Island of New Zealand in the Southland region, 45 km (28 mi) east of Invercargill and 25 km (15 mi) south of Gore. The original Māori name of the locality was Mokoreta (clear or sweet water). Wyndham was named for General Sir Charles Ashe Windham who fought in the Crimean War. The streets are in turn named for events, places, battles and personalities from that war. The town was initially surveyed in 1869 and gazetted a town district in 1882.
