Otama Beach

Otama Beach is a beach on the northeast coast of the Coromandel Peninsula, New Zealand, 20 km north of Whitianga. The north-facing 2 km long white-sand beach is backed by a large protected natural dune system, separating it from the road and farm land beyond. Access is via Black Jack Road, starting from State Highway 25 at Kuaotunu, which is sealed up to the start of Otama Beach. It continues as a gravel road further east towards Opito Bay.

Otama River

The Otama River is a river of the Coromandel Peninsula in New Zealand's North Island. A short river, it flows north from a peninsula on the Coromandel's northeast coast to reach the sea five kilometres east of Kuaotunu.

Matarangi

Matarangi is a small modern tourist town on the Coromandel Peninsula of New Zealand. The small town consists of 300 permanent residents and over 7000 holiday residents during the summer periods of late December to February. Matarangi is very new, having only started development since 1985 and is built on a white sand spit. The town is very wealthy, appealing to well-off tourists and holiday makers. Matarangi is well known for its prestige, luxury and residents' lavish lifestyles.

Mercury Bay

Mercury Bay is a large V-shaped bay on the eastern coast of the Coromandel Peninsula on the North Island of New Zealand. This bay was named by the English navigator Captain James Cook during his exploratory expeditions. By the Māori it was named Te-Whanganui-o-Hei, the great bay of Hei. On 9 November 1769, Cook landed on the shores of this bay to observe a Transit of Mercury.
