Pantasma

Pantasma is a region in the north of Nicaragua. In the Miskito language the word Pantasma means small humans or flat head. The Spanish word Fantasma origins from the Greek Phantasma and means ghost. The Valle de Pantasma, also called the "Crater of Pantasma", is a circular valley over 12 km in diameter situated in Nicaragua. It is passed by the Rio Pantasma, a tributary of the Rio Coco (also called Rio Segovia).

Wiwilí de Nueva Segovia

Wiwilí de Nueva Segovia is a municipality in the Nueva Segovia Department of Nicaragua. Nicaraguan sources say it was founded in the 1920s. Wiwili de Nueva Segovia is on the west bank of the Rio Coco; Wiwili de Jinotega is on the eastern bank. Wiwili borders the Bosawas National Natural Resource Reserve, the largest protected area in Central America.

Battle of La Flor

The Battle of La Flor was fought in May 1928 between the United States Marines, their Nicaraguan National Guardsmen allies, and a force of Sandinista rebels. It occurred at a hill north of the La Flor coffee plantation and ended with a rebel victory when the Americans and Nicaraguan National Guard troops were forced to withdraw.
