Melbu Church

Melbu Church is a parish church in the municipality of Hadsel in Nordland county, Norway. It is located in the village of Melbu on the island of Hadseløya. The church is part of the Melbu parish in the Vesterålen deanery in the Diocese of Sør-Hålogaland. The white wooden church was built in 1938 by Harald Sund to seat about 250 people.

Hadseløya

Hadseløya is an island in the municipality of Hadsel in Nordland county, Norway. It is located in the Vesterålen region on the north side of the Hadselfjorden. The town of Stokmarknes is situated on the northern shore of the island and the village of Melbu is on the southern coast. The island has an area of 102 square kilometres . The 657-metre tall mountain Lamlitind is the highest point on the island. Hadseløya is connected to the neighboring island of Langøya by the Hadsel Bridge.

Hadselfjord

Hadselfjorden or Hadselfjord is a fjord (or more accurately a strait) in Vesterålen, Norway. The fjord is separates the island of Hadseløya (on the north and west side of the fjord) from the islands of Austvågøya and Hinnøya island (on the south and east side of the fjord). In the northeast, the Hadselfjorden connects with Sortlandssund strait, which separates the islands of Langøya and Hinnøya.

Børøy Bridge

Børøy Bridge is a bridge on Norwegian County Road 82 from the town of Stokmarknes on Hadseløya to the nearby island of Børøya in Nordland county, Norway. Together with Hadsel Bridge it connects the islands of Hadseløya and Langøya. The bridge is 336 metres long and its maximum clearing to the sea is 15 metres . Børøy Bridge was built in 1967, and was the first of the main bridges in the Vesterålen islands.

Sand Church

Sand Church is a parish church in the municipality of Hadsel in Nordland county, Norway. It is located in the village of Sanden on the island of Austvågøya. The church is part of the Melbu parish in the Vesterålen deanery in the Diocese of Sør-Hålogaland. The white church was built in 1914 to serve the southern part of Hadsel (on Austvågøya island). It seats about 100 people. It was also used as a school for many years, but the school closed in 1990.
