Rondane National Park

Rondane National Park is the oldest national park in Norway, established on 21 December 1962. The park contains ten peaks above 2,000 metres, with the highest being Rondslottet at an altitude of 2,178 m . The park is an important habitat for herds of wild reindeer. The park was extended in 2003, and now covers an area of 963 km in the counties Oppland and Hedmark. Rondane lies just to the east of Gudbrandsdal and two other mountain areas, Dovre and Jotunheimen are nearby.

Dale is a village in the municipality of Sel, Norway, located a few kilometres west of Otta, upstream on the Otta River. Its population is 773.

Otta Station

Otta Station is a railway station located in the town of Otta in Sel, Norway. The station is located on the Dovre Line and served express trains to Oslo and Trondheim. The station was opened in 1896 when the Dovre Line was extended from Tretten Station to Otta. The restaurant was taken over by Norsk Spisevognselskap on 1 October 1924. It retained an all-year operation until 30 September 1928, when the restaurant was closed for the winter season.

Otta (river)

The Otta river flows through the Ottadal valley in the municipalities of Skjåk, Lom, Vågå and Sel in Norway. The river Otta begins in Skjåk municipality and flows into lake Vågåvatn. Exiting the Vågåvatn at Vågåmo, it continues its journey through the Ottadal leaving Vågå municipality to meet the Gudbrandsdalslågen at the town Otta in Sel municipality. The watershed of the Otta drains an area of 3948 km².
