Bara, FATA

Bara is a town located in Bara Tehsil in Khyber Agency, Federally Administered Tribal Areas, Pakistan. To the south is Kohat district, to the north Peshawar. Bara is also the name of the local administrative division Bara Tehsil of the Khyber Agency within the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) of Pakistan, of which Bara Town is the administrative seat. The Bara River flows through the district. From the era of the Raj the town has held a fort and supplied water to Peshawar.

Bara Tehsil

Bara is a tehsil located in Khyber Agency, Federally Administered Tribal Areas, Pakistan. In the 2000s, Bara achieved some mention in worldwide media with the founding of Lashkar-e-Islam, founded in the area by Mufti Munir Shakir, and later passed to Mangal Bagh, a local driver.

Badaber Uprising

Badaber Uprising was an armed uprising staged by Soviet and Afghan prisoners of war held at the Badaber fortress-jail in Pakistan on April 26 and 27, 1985. Against much larger forces of Pakistan's regular army and the Afghan mujahideen from the Jamiat-e Islami party, the captives' attempted to liberate themselves failed. As a result of the artillery shelling of the Badaber prison, all the prisoners of war were killed in this two day uprising.

Peshawar Air Station

Peshawar Air Station is a former United States Air Force Security Service listening post, used by the 6937th Communications Group from 1958 until January 7, 1970, when the facility was formally closed. It was located in Badaber, a remote area about 4 miles south of the city of Peshawar, Pakistan.

Kotla Mohsin Khan

Kotla Mohsin Khan was constructed in the mid-16th century in the old city of Peshawar, and today consists of two domed tombs and the famous majestic gateway, it was also the residence of Mazullah Khan, a 17th century Pashto poet. The last Mughal governor, Nawab Nasir Khan welcomed the Afghan King, Mohammed Nadir Shah and gifted him the key to Peshawar in 1741 when he visited the city. This signaled the end of the Mughal Empire in Peshawar.
