Encarnación, Paraguay

Encarnación is the capital city of the Paraguayan department of Itapúa, located at the south-east of the department, on the right-hand (western) shore of the Paraná River, opposite Posadas, Argentina. The city has an area of 558 km² and a population of 93,497 (2002 Census). Encarnación is connected to the Argentinian city of Posadas by the San Roque González de Santa Cruz Bridge.

Posadas, Misiones

Posadas is the capital city of the Argentine province of Misiones, located at the south of the province, on the left-hand (eastern) shore of the Paraná River, opposite Encarnación, Paraguay. The city has an area of 965 km² and a population of 324,756, and a population of over 351,000 for the Great Posadas. Posadas is the provincial centre of the government, culture and economy. Furniture, tobacco, food, textile, and construction are its most important industries.

Ruins of Jesús de Tavarangue

Jesús de Tavarangue was a Jesuit Reduction located in what is now Itapua, Paraguay. The ruins of the mission, together with those of Trinidad were designated a UN World Heritage Site designated in 1993.

San Roque González de Santa Cruz Bridge

The San Roque González de Santa Cruz Bridge, is a 2,550 metres long cable-stayed bridge that crosses the Paraná River between the cities of Posadas, capital of Misiones Province, Argentina and Encarnación, Paraguay, capital of the Paraguayan department of Itapúa. The main bridge is 570 metres long and the approaching viaduct is 1,595 metres long.
