Santo Tomás District, Luya

Santo Tomás is one of 23 districts of the province of Luya in the Amazonas region of Peru. Santo Tomás is located in the mountains and can have a severe climate. The Saint Tomás region has beautiful cataracts and several ruins of the Chachapoya culture. The district was created at the time of independence and has an estimated population greater than 4,000 inhabitants. Its capital is the town of Santo Tomás. The annual feast of the patron saint is held in the capital on December 21.

La Jalca (Peru)

La Jalca was the first Spanish foundation of the region; therefore, the first head office of the current city of Chachapoyas was established there. There in 1538, he took the name of Saint John of the Border of the Chachapoyas, in honor to his holy boss. San Cristóbal District, Luya

San Cristóbal is a district of the Luya Province, Peru. San Cristóbal offers several attractive places for tourists, such as ruins of the Chachapoya culture and beautiful waterfalls. San Francisco del Yeso District

San Francisco del Yeso is a district of Luya Province, Peru. One of its best-known attractions are the ruins of Chachapoya. The region is famous for its plaster mines and crafts. Its official holiday is on September 23, but religious festivities take place from September 23-27. Special foods consumed during these celebrations are the Locro and Cuy.
