It lies southeast from Cebu Island across the Cebu Strait (in some references called Bohol Strait) and southwest from Leyte Island, separated by the Camotes Sea and Canigao Channel. Candijay is a 4th class municipality in the province of Bohol, Philippines. According to the 2010 census, it has a population of 29,043 people. The municipality of Candijay is located at the eastern side of Bohol about 92.2 kilometers from Tagbilaran City, a two-hour ride away. Considered a 2nd class municipality, the town occupies an area of 8,687 hectares with a population of 51, 183 people according to the 2007 census.
