Ponce massacre

The Ponce massacre was the largest massacre in Puerto Rican history. It occurred on Palm Sunday, 21 March 1937, when a peaceful civilian march in Ponce, Puerto Rico, turned into a police slaughter that killed 19 Puerto Ricans and wounded over 200 others. The march had been organized by the Puerto Rican Nationalist Party to commemorate the abolition of slavery in Puerto Rico by the governing Spanish National Assembly in 1873. The march was also protesting the U.S.

Iglesia de la Santísima Trinidad

The Iglesia de la Santísima Trinidad (Holy Trinity Church), an Episcopal church building located at the intersection of Marina, Mayor, and Abolicion streets in Ponce, Puerto Rico, was the first Episcopal church built in Latin America. The building dates to 1873. It was the only Protestant church in Puerto Rico at the time of the American invasion in 1898. Its architect or designer is unknown. The structure was listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places on September 29, 1986.

Banco de Ponce

Banco de Ponce was the Puerto Rican bank with the largest number of branches in the United States and second largest bank in deposits and number of branches in Puerto Rico during the twentieth century. It was founded in Ponce, Puerto Rico in the early part of the century, headquartered in San Juan in 1970, and merged with Banco Popular in 1990 forming BancPonce Corporation.

Plaza Muñoz Rivera

Plaza Muñoz Rivera, formally Plaza Luis Muñoz Rivera, is the smaller of the two plazas (city squares) at Plaza Las Delicias in the city of Ponce, Puerto Rico and is located on the north side of Las Delicias. The square is notable for its fountains and for the statue of Luis Muñoz Rivera. The historic Parque de Bombas and Ponce Cathedral buildings are located immediately to the south the Plaza Muñoz Rivera.

Plaza Las Delicias

Plaza Las Delicias is the main plaza in the city of Ponce, Puerto Rico. The square is notable for its fountains and for the various monuments it contains. The historic Parque de Bombas and Ponce Cathedral buildings are located within Plaza Las Delicias. Plaza Las Delicias is actually composed of two squares, Plaza Muñoz Rivera on the north end and Plaza Degetau on the southern end.
