Vit

The Vit also Vid is a river in central northern Bulgaria with a length of 189 km. It is a tributary of Danube. The source of the Vit is in Stara Planina, below Vezhen Peak at an altitude of 2,030 m, and it empties into the Danube close to Somovit. The river has a watershed area of 3,220 km², its main tributaries being Kamenska reka, Kalnik and Tuchenitsa. Towns on the river include Teteven, Pleven, Dolni Dabnik, Dolna Mitropoliya and Gulyantsi.

Oescus

Oescus, or Palatiolon Palatiolum, (in Bulgarian Улпия Ескус) was an ancient town in Moesia, northwest of the modern Bulgarian city of Pleven, near the village of Gigen. It is a Daco-Moesian toponym. Ptolemy calls it a Triballian town, but it later became Roman. It was linked by a bridge over Danube with ancient city Sucidava by Constantin the Great.

Gigen

Gigen is a village in northern Bulgaria, part of Gulyantsi Municipality, Pleven Province. It is located near the Danube River, close to the place where the Iskar River empties into it, opposite the Romanian town of Corabia. Gigen is most famous for being built on the site of the important Roman colony of Oescus. The extensive ruins are located in the northwestern part of the village and were first associated with the ancient colony in the end of the 17th century.

Constantine's Bridge (Danube)

Constantine's Bridge (Romanian: Podul lui Constantin cel Mare; Bulgarian: Константинов мост, Konstantinov most) was a Roman bridge over the Danube. It was completed or rebuilt in 328 and remained in use for no more than four decades. With an overall length of 2437 m, 1137 m of which spanned the Danube's riverbed, Constantine's Bridge is considered the longest ancient river bridge and one of the longest of all time.

Gulyantsi

Gulyantsi (also transliterated Guljanci, Gulyanci, Guliantzi, Gulyantzi, etc. ) is a town in central northern Bulgaria, part of Pleven Province. It is the administrative centre of Gulyantsi municipality and lies in the central north of the province, near the town of Nikopol, very close to the Danube River. As of December 2009, the town has a population of 3,432 inhabitants.
