Mount Arafat

Mount Arafat or Mount Arafah is a granite hill east of Mecca. It is also known as the Mount of Mercy (Jabal ar-Rahmah). The hill is the place where the Islamic prophet Muhammad stood and delivered the Farewell Sermon to the Muslims who had accompanied him for the Hajj towards the end of his life. It reaches about 70 m in height. According to Islamic tradition, it was on Mount Arafah that prophet Muhammad said his last speech.

Muzdalifah

Muzdalifah is an open, level area near Mecca in Saudi Arabia associated with the Hajj. It lies just southeast of Mina on the route between Mina and Arafat. Each year on the 9th day of the Islamic month of Dhu al-Hijjah, after an afternoon of prayer at Arafat, Muslim pilgrims visit Muzdalifah in the evening. Because of over-crowding, the pilgrims sometimes do not arrive there until late at night.

Mina, Saudi Arabia

Mina (Also known as the Tent City) is a neighborhood of Mecca in Makkah Province, in western Saudi Arabia. It is situated 5 kilometers to the east of the Holy city of Mecca. It stands on the road from Mecca's city centre to the Hill of Arafat. It covers an area of approximately 20 km². Mina is best known for the role it plays during the annual Hajj pilgrimage. There are more than 100,000 air-conditioned tents which provide temporary accommodation to visiting pilgrims.

Jamaraat Bridge

The Jamaraat Bridge is a pedestrian bridge in Mina, Saudi Arabia near Mecca used by Muslims during the stoning of the devil ritual of the Hajj. The bridge was originally constructed in 1963, and has been expanded several times since then. The purpose of the bridge is to enable pilgrims to throw stones at the three jamrah pillars from either the ground level or from the bridge.
