Suvobor

Suvobor is a mountain in central Serbia, near the town of Gornji Milanovac. Its highest peak Suvobor has an altitude of 866 meters above sea level. Northwestern part of Suvobor is called Rajac and is generally best developed touristically. Suvobor and Rajac were the site of Battle of Kolubara of the World War I in December 1914. In World War II, Suvobor was a stronghold of Chetnik movement, and their leader Draža Mihailović had the main headquarters at Ravna Gora.

Ravna Gora (Suvobor)

Ravna Gora (Равна Гора) is a highland in central Serbia, at the mountain of Suvobor. It is renowned as the birthplace of the modern Chetnik movement under the leadership of Dragoljub Mihailović in 1941. Ravna Gora was the site of a celebration marking the 50th anniversary of VE day in 1995. Among others, the celebration was attended by Major Richard L. Felman of the United States Air Force who was one of approximately 417 US airmen rescued by the Chetniks during World War II.

The Battle of Kolubara (3–9 December 1914) was a major victory for Serbia over the Austro-Hungarian armies during World War I. The Austro-Hungarian armies were routed, and driven back across the Serbian border.
