Črni Vrh Observatory

The Črni Vrh Observatory (Observatorij Črni Vrh, IAU code 106) is located in Western Slovenia, close to the settlement Črni Vrh, near the town of Idrija. The current observatory was built in 1985, and is at an altitude of 730 metres. Much of the construction was done by volunteers. Regular astronomical observations started in 1975, at a small observatory that was equipped with home-made instruments and was set up 4 km from the present site. At that time first images of Comet West were taken.

Claustra Alpium Iuliarum

Claustra Alpium Iuliarum was a defense system within the Roman Empire between Italia and Pannonia that protected Italy from possible invasions from the East. It secured the Postojna Gate, the land link between the eastern and western part of the empire, and thus the Claustra represented an inner border defense of the empire. Contrary to a linear limes the Claustra consisted of a series of interconnected fortifications with its center at Ad Pirum at today's Hrušica.
