Ecca Pass

Ecca Pass, is situated in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa, on the regional road R67, between Grahamstown and Fort Beaufort. It was the first pass built by Andrew Geddes Bain as part of the Queen's Road. Bain named the heights and the pass after the Ecca River, a Fish River tributary, which is believed to mean "salty" or "brackish" in the local Khoikhoi language.

Albany, South Africa

Albany, South Africa (also known as Cape Borders, Cape Frontier, Settler Country, and Western Region) was a district in the Eastern Cape, South Africa. Grahamstown was traditionally the administrative capital, cultural centre and largest town of the Albany district. The area was previously known as the 'Zuurveld' by migrating Boer farmers in the late 18th century, and it lay near the boundary between the Cape Colony and the traditional Xhosa lands to the east.
