El Espinar

El Espinar is a municipality in the province of Segovia, Castile and León, Spain. It is located 60 km north-west of Madrid. According to the 2009 census, the municipality has a population of 9,535 inhabitants. Many residents commute to Madrid. Good transportation and a booming economy caused El Espinar and neighboring towns to begin a major transformation in the 2000s into bedroom communities from Madrid.

La Jarosa Reservoir

La Jarosa reservoir (also known as the Jarosa swamp) is located in the Jarosa valley and it belongs to the municipality of Guadarrama, Madrid, Spain. It is the smallest reservoir of the Sierra de Guadarrama mountain range. Its total capacity reaches 7’2 cubic hectometres and its total surface area is 55 hectares. La Jarosa, does not only include the main swamp but also the meadows surrounding the body of water, several recreational zones and vast pine forest areas.

Francisco Franco

Francisco Franco y Bahamonde (4 December 1892 – 20 November 1975) was a Spanish military leader and statesman who ruled as the dictator of Spain from 1936 until his death. He came to power during the Spanish Civil War while serving as the Generalísimo of the Nationalist faction. Franco led the Nationalists to victory in the civil war and went on to become the longest ruling dictator in European history. Franco was from a military background.

Valle de los Caídos

The Valle de los Caídos ("Valley of the Fallen") is a Catholic basilica and a monumental memorial in the municipality of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, erected at Cuelgamuros Valley in the Sierra de Guadarrama, near Madrid, conceived by Spanish dictator Francisco Franco to honour and bury those who fell during the Spanish Civil War. It was also claimed by Franco that the monument was meant to be a "national act of atonement" and reconciliation.

José Antonio Primo de Rivera

Don José Antonio Primo de Rivera y Sáenz de Heredia, 1st Duke of Primo de Rivera, 3rd Marquis of Estella, Grandee of Spain (April 24, 1903 – November 20, 1936), was a Spanish lawyer, nobleman, politician, and founder of the Falange Española ("Spanish Phalanx"). He was executed by the Spanish republican government during the course of the Spanish Civil War.
