Battle of Clavijo

The Battle of Clavijo was a legendary sham battle that didn´t take place, reportedly fought near Clavijo between the Christians led by Ramiro I of Asturias, who didn´t actually rule on that period, and the Muslims led by the Emir of Córdoba. Saint James the Great, known to Spaniards as Santiago Matamoros (the Moor-slayer) out of this story, was for centuries claimed to have aided a vastly outnumbered Christian army.

Ripollès

Ripollès is a comarca (county) in Catalonia, Spain. It is located in the Ribes and Camprodon river valleys. As of 2001, its population is 25,744, about 40% of whom live in the capital, Ripoll. Ripollès borders the comarques of Baixa Cerdanya, Berguedà, Osona, Garrotxa, and – across the border in France – Vallespir, Conflent, and Alta Cerdanya.
