Os de Civís

Os de Civís is a village in the central Pyrenees mountains in the province of Lleida, Spain, and is located to the west of Andorra, near the villages of Aixàs and Bixessarri. Civís is the nearest Spanish village. It is the most populated village in the municipality. Os de Civís is very close to the Spain–Andorra border, and is unique in being the only Spanish village that can be reached by vehicle only by going through Andorra. It has a number of medieval buildings including a Romanesque church.

Aixàs is a village in south-west Andorra. It belongs to the parish of Sant Julià de Lòria. To its west are Civís and Os de Civís in Spain, to its north Xixerella, to its east Santa Coloma, and to its south Aixovall.

Andorra la Vella

Andorra la Vella is the capital of the Principality of Andorra, and is located high in the east Pyrenees between France and Spain. It is also the name of the parish that surrounds the capital. As of 2011, the city has a population of 22,256, and the urban area, which includes Escaldes-Engordany plus satellite villages, has over 40,000 inhabitants. The principal industry is tourism, although the country also earns foreign income from being a tax haven. Furniture and brandies are local products.

Civís

Civis is an Ancient Latin word that can be roughly translated as "citizen". The word did not have the legal implications that it has today. It simply meant someone that lived within a city, as opposed to "outsiders". Currently the word is sometimes used in Europe in its Latin context, but it is also sometimes used as a surname.
