Iranamadu

Iranamadu (Tamil: இரணமடு - translation Double-bund, Sinhala: රණමඩුව Ranamaduwa) is a military city in Kilinochchi District, Sri Lanka. It consist a lake that provides water to the paddy fields in the region. Sri Lankan Army claimed in early 2009 that they captured an Air Tiger Airstrip in the area.

Kilinochchi Hospital is a government hospital in Kilinochchi, Sri Lanka. It is the leading hospital in Kilinochchi District and is controlled by the provincial government in Jaffna. As of 2010 it had 110 beds. The hospital is sometimes called Kilinochchi District General Hospital.

2008–09 Battle of Kilinochchi

The Battle of Kilinochchi was a land battle fought between the Sri Lankan Military and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) for the control of the town of Kilinochchi in the Northern Theater of Eelam War IV during the Sri Lankan civil war between November 2008 and January 2009. The town of Kilinochchi was the administrative center and de facto capital of the LTTE's proposed state of Tamil Eelam.
