Union College, Tellippalai

Union College (Tamil: ஐக்கிய கல்லூரி Aikkiya Kallūri, UC) is a provincial school in Tellippalai, Sri Lanka. Founded in 1816 by American missionaries, it is one of Sri Lanka's oldest schools.

Tellippalai

Tellippalai or Thellippalai is a small town in the northern Jaffna District of Sri Lanka. It was a mission location when the American Ceylon Mission (ACM) came to Sri Lanka in the 19th century. It was known as Tillipally in ACM documents. There are number of schools some which were founded by ACM and churches and JHindu Temples in the village. The First English School of Jaffna, which led to Union College, was founded in Dutch Hall in 1816 by the Rev. Daniel Poor, an American citizen.

Maviddapuram

Maviddapuram is a holy village in the Sri Lankan district of Jaffna under the Tellipalai divisional secretariat. It is near the Palali airport, Kankesanthurai harbour and Keerimalai coast which is famous for the Naguleswaram Shiva temple. So, it is a centre point and well connected to the Jaffna town by transport services before late 1980s.

Kankesanthurai

Kankesanthurai or KKS, is a town with a harbour, of Jaffna District, Northern Province, Sri Lanka. It is the location of the Sri Lanka Navy naval base, SLNS Uttara. At present it is in the High Security Zone declared by the security forces of Sri Lanka. India helps in port's restoration. Kankasanthurai port will be the nearest port for all eastern ports in India, as well as for Myanmar and Bangladesh.
