Wanica District

Wanica is a district of Suriname, in the northeast. Wanica's capital city is Lelydorp. Wanica has a population of near 76,320 and an area of 444 km². With a high population density, Wanica is one of Suriname's most populated and most urbanised districts. The district's capital, originally called Kofi Djompo, was renamed in 1905 for Dutch architect Cornelis Lely, who was responsible for many large construction projects in the Netherlands and was also governor of Suriname.

Arya Dewaker

Arya Dewaker (Hindi वही आर्य देवकर) is the name of the Hindu association that built probably the biggest Hindu temple of Suriname. The temple attracts many visitors, both Hindus and non-Hindus, coming from Suriname and from all over the world. It is located in the city centre fields in Paramaribo.
