Vira bruk

Vira bruk is a village and an historic iron works in Österåker in Sweden. Vira bruk was founded around 1630 by Clas Fleming. On the basis on a monopoly granted by a royal privilege it manufactured most of the rapiers and swords for the Swedish army into the mid 19th Century. Vira bruk was owned by the Fleming family until 1757, when it was sold to Reinhold Angerstein, who at that time was an official of the Swedish Board of Mines.

Örsö

Roslagen

red = Tiunda cyan = Attunda yellow = Roden / Roslagen green = Fjärdhundra The coastline has changed considerably in the last millennium due to post-glacial rebound. Originally there was a sea bay coming in from the north all the way into Uppsala. Roslagen is the modern name the area which roughly corresponds to that which was called Roden in the Middle Ages.

Finnhamn

Finnhamn is a group of islands in the Stockholm archipelago. It is in Österåker Municipality and lies to the east of Ingmarsö and to the west of Husarö. The name is derived from the Finnish boats which called into the natural harbour on their way to and from Stockholm. A wealthy coal merchant built a house here in 1915 and this is now a youth hostel which is open all year round. Finnhamn was bought by Stockholm City in 1943.
