Battle of Lena

This page is about the Battle of Lena of 1208; for other battles, see Battle of Helena (disambiguation). The Battle of Lena occurred on January 31, 1208, and probably took place near Kungslena, which is located in the Tidaholm Municipality in Västergötland, Sweden. It was an important battle between the Danish-backed former Swedish King Sverker II of Sweden and Prince Eric.

Battle of Gestilren

The Battle of Gestilren took place on July 17, 1210. The battle was fought between the exiled King of Sweden Sverker and the ruling King Eric. Sverker had been beaten in the previous Battle of Lena, but had returned with new forces. Sverker was killed in the battle. The exact strength of the armies are unknown, but it is believed that there were about 12,000 Danish soldiers, and at least 8,000 Swedish.

Ingamoder

Ingamoder is a name invented in modern times for the wife of King Stenkil of Sweden. Ingemo, who cannot be reliably sourced as the same person as Ingamoder, was a local saint only known from customs at the Ingemo Well near Skövde in Sweden. Modern genealogical speculation made her the daughter of King Emund the Old who was married to King Stenkil, and whose given name is not known.

Tidaholm Municipality

Tidaholm Municipality (Tidaholms kommun) is a municipality in Västra Götaland County in western Sweden. Its seat is located in the city of Tidaholm. The municipality is located on the banks of the river Tidan. In the early 1970s a nation-wide local government reform was carried out in Sweden. Urban and rural areas were merged into larger unitary municipalities.
