Eternal Golden Castle

The Eternal Golden Castle, alternatively but less well known as Uhrkuenshen Battery, is a defensive castle in Anping, Tainan, Taiwan. The castle was built in 1874 by the famous Qing official Shen Baozhen in order to safeguard the coast and to defend the island against Japanese invasions. In 1895, when Taiwan was invaded by the Empire of Japan, the Taiwanese people fought against the Japanese battleship from this fortress.

Anping District

Fort Zeelandia (Taiwan)

Fort Zeelandia was a fortress built over ten years from 1624 to 1634 by the Dutch Verenigde Oostindische Compagnie, in the town of Anping on the island of Formosa, during their 38-year rule over the western part of that island. Although the site was previously named Orange City (奧倫治城), Anping City (安平城), and Taiwan City (台灣城), the current name of the site in Chinese is Anping Fort (安平古堡).

Fort Provintia

{{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:22|59|51|N|120|12|10.12|E|type:landmark |primary |name= }} Sakam Tower, formerly Fort Provintia, in West Central District, Tainan City was built in 1653 by the Dutch during their colonization of Taiwan. The fort was surrendered to Koxinga. Since 1945 the site has been known as Chihkan Tower (赤崁樓), which derives from the Taiwanese aboriginal village name recorded by the Dutch as variants of "Chaccam," "Sakam," "Zaccam," etc.
