Madou District

Madou is a town of about 50,000 residents in Tainan, Taiwan. It owes its name to the Siraya aboriginal word Moatau or "Mattou". Madou was formerly one of the core Siraya villages during much of Taiwan's colonial history and figured heavily in the formation of colonial policy on Taiwan. Currently, it is a well-known town in Tainan for its local culinary specialties and historical sites.

Taiwan Shoufu University

Taiwan Shoufu University (台灣首府大學), formerly known as Diwan College of Management, founded in 1990, is the second college of Madou District in Tainan City. It was founded by Mr. Wang Hung-Tien,and his wife, Ms. Huang Hsin-Mong. Mr. Wang was an educator, and his wife was a legislator. With a devotion to education, they decided to set up a college at their hometown Madou.

Shanhua District

Shanhua is a suburban district of Tainan City, a special municipality of the Republic of China located in southwestern Taiwan. Until December 25, 2010, it was an urban township in the dissolved Tainan County, which is now merged with the original Tainan City to form a single special municipality.

Kingdom of Tungning

The Kingdom of Tungning or Kingdom of Formosa was a government that ruled part of southwestern Taiwan between 1661 and 1683. A pro-Ming Dynasty state, it was founded by Koxinga (also known as Zheng Chenggong) (鄭成功) after the Ming government in China was replaced by the Manchu-ruled Qing Dynasty. Koxinga hoped to use the island as a base of operations to train military forces and recapture mainland China from the Manchus.
