Hamadoni District
Hamadoni District is a district in the south-east of Khatlon Province of Tajikistan, located south of Kulob and stretching along a section of the Panj on the border with Afghanistan. Population 123,800 (2007 data). Between 1950 and 2004 called Moskovskiy District, then renamed in honor of Mir Said Ali Hamadoni, a 14th century Persian poet and scholar who is buried in Khatlon. Its population is 20,700 (1 January 2008 est.). Internet sources often identify Moskovskiy with Chubek, but in fact this is another village in the district, located about 5 km south-east from Moskva {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:37|36|46|N|69|42|22|E| | |name= }}).
