Bukoba

Bukoba is a town in northwest Tanzania on the western shore of Lake Victoria. It is the capital of the Kagera region, and the administrative seat for Bukoba Urban District. Population estimate: 100,000. The city is served by Bukoba Airport and regular ferry connections to Mwanza, as well as ground transport to Uganda's Rakai District.

Geita

Geita is a town in northwestern Tanzania of approximately 40,000 people, located 90 kilometers west of Mwanza. It is in the centre of a gold mining area. In March 2012 it became the administrative headquarters of the newly created Geita Region.

Battle of Bukoba

The Battle of Bukoba was the first victory for Entente forces in German East Africa, coming after the disastrous battles of Tanga and Jassin. The British objective was the destruction of the Bukoba wireless station. Due to Bukoba's location on the shore of Lake Victoria, it was decided that the raid should take the form of an amphibious assault.

Geita Region

Geita Region is one of Tanzania’s 30 administrative regions. The town of Geita is the capital. Geita Region was created in March 2012, from part of Shinyanga Region and part of Mwanza Region. The regional commissioner of the Geita Region is Magalula Saidi Magalula.
