The village is named after Senem who was born during the escape of her family soon after the Russians occupied the area around the settlement in the Russo-Turkish War (1877–1878) But the area was returned to Turkey after the First World War.

Kuytuca

Kuytuca is a village in Göle district of Ardahan Province, Turkey. At {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:40|46|N|42|45|E||| | |name= }} it is situated 17 kilometres east of Göle and 61 kilometres south of Ardahan. The population of Kuytuca is 1012 as of 2010 . The village was founded by seven families from Ahıska (now Akhaltsikhe, a city in Georgia) in the early years of the 19th century. It was captured by Russia during the Russo-Turkish War (1877–1878).
