Şenköy

Şenköy is a town in Hatay Province, Turkey. Şenköy is 23 kilometres south of Antakya (administrative center of Hatay) on the way to Yayladağı at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:36|3|N|36|9|E||| | |name= }}. The population is 1476 as of 2011. Former name of Şenköy was Şeyhköy (village of sheik) referring to Sheik Ahmet Kuseyri who lived in the 16th century.

115 Antioch earthquake

The 115 Antioch earthquake occurred on 13 December 115 AD. It had an estimated magnitude of 7.5 on the surface wave magnitude scale and an estimated maximum intensity of XI (extreme) on the Mercalli intensity scale. Antioch and surrounding areas were devastated with a great loss of life and property. It triggered a local tsunami that badly damaged the harbour at Caesarea Maritima. The Roman Emperor Trajan was caught in the earthquake, as was his successor Hadrian.

Tomruksuyu

Tomruksuyu is a town in Samandağ district of Hatay Province, Turkey. At {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:36|09|N|36|03|E||| | |name= }} it is to the north of the highway connecting Samandağ to Antakya (the capital of the province). The distance to Samandağ is 12 kilometres and to Antakya is 15 kilometres . The population of Tomruksuyu is 3347 as of 2011. The settlement was founded in 1807 during the Ottoman Empire era, after an earthquake.

Battle of Antioch (145 BC)

The Battle of Antioch in 145 BC saw the defeat and overthrow of Seleucid king Alexander Balas by Ptolemy VI Philometor of Egypt, but the Egyptian pharaoh died in the battle. This battle is also known as the Battle of the Oenoparus.
