The distance to Iğdır is 7 kilometres . The population of Halfeli is 7540 as of 2011. The settlement was founded by Halfeli tribe during the Ottoman Empire era. But after Russians captured the province after the Russo-Turkish War (1877-1878) the tribe escaped to Iran.
