The 1974 Turkish Airlines Izmir crash occurred on January 26, 1974 when a Turkish Airlines Fokker F28-1000 Fellowship airliner, registration TC-JAO, named Van, on a domestic flight in Turkey from Izmir Cumaovası Airport (IZM) to Istanbul Yeşilköy Airport (IST/LTBA), stalled shortly after takeoff due to over rotation and frost accretion on the wings, crashed and caught fire. At around 7:30 local time, the aircraft ran on Runway 35 of approx. 3,200 ft and became airborne.

Adnan Menderes Airport Station also referred to as Adnan Menderes or Airport (Turkish: Adnan Menderes Havaalanı, Havaalanı) is a railway station in southern Gaziemir. The station is served by regional trains heading to southwestern Turkey, operated by the Turkish State Railways. The station allows a connection for people between planes at Adnan Menderes Airport to direct train service into İzmir. All regional trains stops at the station.

Halkapınar railway station is a major transfer hub in İzmir, Turkey. Halkapınar is currently the only station in Turkey where a direct transfer between the railway and a city's metro system exists. Transfer is available to the adjacent İzmir Metro's Halkapınar station as well as ESHOT's two bus terminals for city buses.
