Telmessos

This article is about Telmessos in Lycia (modern Fethiye), not to be confused with Telmessos in Caria. 205px 200px Paintings of Telmessos by Luigi Mayer Telmessos or Telmessus, later Anastasiopolis, then Makri or Macre, was the largest city in Lycia, near the Carian border, and is sometimes confused with Telmessos in Caria. The well-protected harbor of Telmessos is separated from the Gulf of Telmessos by an island. The modern town of Fethiye is located on its site.

Kayaköy

Kayaköy (Greek: Λεβισσι, Levissi or Greek: Καρμυλησσός, Karmylissos, although modern English usage seems to be Karmylassos) is a village 8 km south of Fethiye in southwestern Turkey where Anatolian Greek speaking Christians lived until approximately 1923.

Gemiler Island

Gemiler Island is an island located off the coast of Turkey near the city of Fethiye. On the island are the remains of several churches built between the fourth and sixth centuries AD, along with a variety of associated buildings. Archaeologists believe it was the location of the original tomb of Saint Nicholas.

Gulf of Fethiye

The Gulf of Fethiye is a branch of the Mediterranean Sea in southwest Turkey. The cities of Fethiye and Göcek lie on it. It is bounded on the west by the Kurdoğlu cape and on the east by İlbis cape/Cape Angistro. It is a popular area for tourism and yachting. Until 1923, it was known as the Gulf of Meğri/Makri/Macre/Mekri, the former name of Fethiye. It lies in ancient Lycia, and was known as the Gulf of Telmessos or the Glaucus Sinus.

Karaçulha

Karaçulha is a town in Fethiye district of Muğla Province, Turkey. The town is just at the east of Fethiye. It is so close that it has almost merged to the center of the district. At {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:36|39|N|29|13|E||| | |name= }} the distance to Muğla is 140 kilometres . The population of Karaçulha was 13191 as of 2011. There are ancient ruins around Karaçulha. But the settlement was founded by Yörüks.
