The 1979 Dniprodzerzhynsk mid-air collision refers to the mid-air collision of two Aeroflot Tupolev Tu-134s that took place on 11 August 1979 over the Ukrainian SSR, near Dniprodzerzhynsk. All 178 occupants of both aircraft perished in the accident.

The station is located on the Dzerzhynskoho Square on the Prospect Svobody (for which the station is named, "Freedom Avenue").
