Sniatyn

For the eponymous town in Russia, see Ksnyatin Sniatyn is a city located in the Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, in western Ukraine along the Prut river. It is the administrative center of the Sniatynsky Raion, and is located at around {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:48|27|0|N|25|34|0|E| |primary |name= }}. The current estimated population is around 10,500 (as of 2001). In the interbellum period, it was a rail border crossing between Poland and Romania.

Cheremosh River

The Cheremosh River is a river in western Ukraine, tributary of the Prut River. It flows along the borderline of the historic regions of Bukovina and Galicia. In the Middle Ages and the early modern era, it was part of the borderline between the Principality of Moldavia and Kingdom of Poland. Currently it runs along the borderline between the Ivano-Frankivsk and Chernivtsi Oblasts. Both banks in the upper part of the river are inhabited by Hutsuls.

Hvizdets

Hvizdets is a town in the Kolomyia Raion of Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast of Ukraine. It is located 12 miles ENE of Kolomyia, 35 miles SE of Ivano-Frankivsk and 430 WSW of Kiev, at approximately {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:48|35|N|25|17|E||| | |name= }}. The town was the site of the Battle of Gwoździec in 1531, during the Polish-Moldavian wars.
