Mius River

Mius is a river in Eastern Europe that flows through Ukraine and Russia. It starts in the Donets Range of Donetsk Oblast and flows through Luhansk Oblast, Ukraine and Rostov Oblast, Russia into the Mius Firth of the Sea of Azov, west of Taganrog. Its length is 258 km. During the World War II the Germans created a heavily fortified line, known as Miusfront or Mius-Front, that was an arena of fierce battles during the Battle of Rostov (1943).

Vuhlehirsk is a city in Donetsk Oblast of Ukraine. Population is 8,226 (2011). The official date of foundation is 1879 – the year of opening the railway station Hatsepetivka (Vuhlehirsk was called village Hatsepetivka until 1958).
