Colston Bassett

Colston Bassett is a small picturesque village in the Vale of Belvoir in the south-east of Nottinghamshire close to its border with Leicestershire. Lying on the River Smite, it has a population of 225. The village is best known for its dairy which opened in 1913, one of only six that are permitted to make Stilton cheese and also manufactures small quantities of white Stilton and Shropshire Blue.

Owthorpe

Owthorpe is a village and civil parish in the English county of Nottinghamshire. Owthorpe is located south east of Nottingham and forms part of the borough of Rushcliffe. The Grantham Canal is to its east. As of 2006 the borough council records a population of 90 so the parish is too small to have a parish council and has a parish meeting instead. It was at one time the seat of the powerful, Hutchinson family. A large manor house was located there until it burned to the ground in a fire.

RAF Langar

Royal Air Force Station Langar or more simply RAF Langar is a former Royal Air Force station located near the village of Langar, Nottinghamshire, England. The airfield is located approximately 6 miles east-southeast of Radcliffe on Trent and about 100 miles north-northwest of London, England. Opened in 1942 during World War II, it was used by both the Royal Air Force and United States Army Air Forces. During the war it was used primarily as troop carrier transport airfield.
