Carsington Water

Carsington Water is a reservoir operated by Severn Trent Water in Derbyshire, England. The reservoir takes water from the River Derwent at Ambergate during winter months, pumping up to the reservoir by 10.5-kilometre long tunnels and aqueduct. Water is released back into the river during summer months for water abstraction and treatment further downstream. It is England's ninth largest reservoir with a capacity of 35,412 megalitres.

Ednaston Manor

Ednaston Manor is a country house in Ednaston, near Brailsford, Derbyshire. It was built in 1912-1919 in a Queen Anne style by Edwin Lutyens, for William G. Player. It is a Grade I listed building. It was bought by free newspaper pioneer and former Derby County chairman Lionel Pickering in 1979. He lived there with his wife Marcia and sons. He improved the extensive gardens which were open to the public during the summer.

Brailsford

Brailsford is a small red-brick village in Derbyshire on the A52 midway between Derby and Ashbourne. The village has a pub, a post office, a petrol station and a school. There are many fine houses in the district including two 20th-century country houses: Brailsford Hall built in 1905 in Jacobean style, and Culland Hall.

Ashbourne, Derbyshire

Ashbourne is one of the market towns in the Derbyshire Dales, England. It has a population of 7,302. It contains many historical buildings and many independent shops, and is famous for its historic annual Shrovetide football match. Due to its proximity to the southern edge of the Peak District and being the closest town to the popular area of Dovedale, the town is known as both 'The Gateway to Dovedale' and the 'Gateway to the Peak District'.

Derbyshire Dales

Derbyshire Dales /ˈdɑrbɪʃə deɪlz/ or /ˈdɑrbiʃɪər deɪlz/ is a local government district in Derbyshire, England. Much of the district is situated in the Peak District, although most of its population lies along the River Derwent. The borough borders the districts of High Peak, Amber Valley, North East Derbyshire and South Derbyshire in Derbyshire and also Sheffield in South Yorkshire. The district offices are in Matlock. It was formed on 1 April 1974, originally under the name of West Derbyshire.
