A595 road

The A595 is a primary route in Cumbria, in northern England that starts in Carlisle, passes through Whitehaven, and goes close to Workington, Cockermouth and Wigton. It passes Sellafield and Ravenglass before ending at the Dalton-in-Furness by-pass, in southern Cumbria, where it joins the A590 trunk road.

South Lakes Wild Animal Park

South Lakes Wild Animal Park is a 17-acre zoo established in 1994 by David Gill, and located in Dalton-in-Furness, Cumbria, England. The park is a member of the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA) and bills itself as one of the best conservation zoos in the country.

Dalton Castle

Dalton Castle is a 14th-century peel tower situated in Dalton-in-Furness, Cumbria, England, and in the ownership of the National Trust. It was constructed by the monks of Furness Abbey for the protection of the nearby market town, and was the building from which the Abbot administered the area and dispensed justice. The property hosts an exhibition on a local history as well as a display about local painter George Romney.

Lindal-in-Furness

Lindal-in-Furness is a village on the Furness peninsula of Cumbria, England. It lies four miles to the east of Barrow-in-Furness, on the A590 trunk road. The land around Lindal, a small grange belonging to Furness Abbey in the Middle Ages, had long been known for its iron ore. In the 1840s and 1850s, larger deposits were discovered in the area and Lindal became one of many mining villages supplying the iron ore for what was then the world's largest steelworks, in Barrow.
