The Maidstone Studios

The Maidstone Studios, formerly called TVS Television Centre, is a television studio complex with radio studio facilities based at Vinters Park in Maidstone, Kent UK. It has been home to a varied selection of independent British television programming including quiz shows, such as the original run of Catchphrase and popular children's shows such as CITV's Art Attack. From 2011, the Maidstone Studios is the home of popular ITV dating show Take Me Out.

A249 road

The A249 is a road in Kent, England, running from Maidstone to Sheerness on the Isle of Sheppey. It mainly functions as a link between the M2 and M20 motorways, and for goods vehicle traffic to the port at Sheerness. In 2006, an upgraded dual carriageway section opened between Iwade and Queenborough, including a new fixed crossing over the Swale. The existing lifting Kingsferry Bridge has been retained as an alternative route.

Battle of Maidstone

The Battle of Maidstone (1 June 1648) was fought in the Second English Civil War and was a victory for the attacking parliamentarian troops over the defending Royalist forces.

The Loft (nightclub)

Built more than 130 years ago in 1874, 34c Gabriels Hill, Maidstone was once a seed and grain warehouse. In 1992 the venue was converted from a small function room into a nightclub called Warehouse 2, a reference to it being the replacement venue for the original Warehouse nightclub in Lockmeadow which was closed to make way for a new link road.

Downswood

Downswood is a community in the Borough of Maidstone in Kent, England. It comprises a housing estate situated to the east of Mote Park, and is in the parish of Otham. The area is served by a parade of local shops, a country pub (The Orchard), a doctors surgery, a community hall and Otham church. Downswood has been parish in its own right since 1987. Before then it was known to be part of Otham. A corn mill was recorded in the Domesday Book on the River Len.
