A413 road

The A413 is a major road in England that links Gerrards Cross to Towcester. It passes through various towns and villages including Buckingham, Aylesbury, Wendover, Winslow, Great Missenden and Amersham. It has been diverted a number of times over the last 50 years. In the 1960s, a by-pass was built around Great Missenden and re-routing has taken place through Aylesbury town centre. In the last 20 years, by-passes have been built for Amersham and Wendover.

Burston, Buckinghamshire

Burston is a small hamlet near Rowsham in Buckinghamshire about three miles north of Aylesbury. Originally an Iron Age settlement, it was overlooked by a defensive position on high ground (Burston Hill). Today, Burston consists of a few farms, including Burston Hill Farm, Lower Burston and Burston Ridge Farm, but in the valley below, earthworks of the old settlement remain.

Royal Buckinghamshire Hospital

The Royal Buckinghamshire Hospital (colloquially called the Royal Bucks) was founded in 1832 in response to the cholera epidemic that swept across England at that time. It is situated in Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire. The construction was based on the design of a stately home to help dissociate the assumption at the time that hospitals were a place of death.
