A846 road

The A846 road is one of the two principal roads of Islay in the Inner Hebrides off the west coast of mainland Scotland and the only 'A' road on the neighbouring island of Jura. A ferry connects the two islands across the Sound of Islay. It connects Lussagiven on Jura with Ardbeg on Islay which is a distance of some 46+⁄2 miles by road – considerably less by boat.

Sound of Islay

The Sound of Islay is a narrow strait between the islands of Islay and Jura off the west coast of Scotland. It is approximately 30 kilometres in extent from north to south and lies between Rubh' a' Mhàil on Islay and Rubh' Aird na Sgitheich on Jura to the north and Macarthur's Head and Rubha na Tràille to the south. The islands in the Sound are Am Fraoch Eilean, Brosdale Island and Glas Eilean, all of which are off the south east coast of Jura.

Eas Forsa

Eas Forsa is a waterfall on the island of Islay in Scotland. It lies in woodland between Loch Allan and the Sound of Islay about 2 kilometres south of Port Askaig. The name is probably tautologous: eas is Gaelic for waterfall, and fors or foss is also Norse for waterfall.
