Saughtree

Saughtree is a village by the B6357 and the Liddel Water, in Liddesdale, near Newcastleton, in the Scottish Borders area of Scotland. The Dawston Burn is a tributary of the Liddel Water. Saughtree Fell is a hill which rises to 450m. Saughtree Church was built in 1875 and is in the Parish of Castleton. Saughtree railway station, near Riccarton Junction railway station and the Saughtree Railway Viaduct, is now a private dwelling.

Deadwater railway station

Deadwater railway station is a closed railway station situated on the border between England and Scotland at the head of the North Tyne River. The station served the settlement of Deadwater which consisted of just six houses, and no local industry.

Whitrope Siding

Whitrope Siding was a trailing short siding or spur off the "up" (southbound) line, an associated trailing cross-over between up and down lines, a pair of railway cottages and a signal box on the Waverley Line or Waverley Route. It was used as a goods loading bay by Christian Ponder. The site is now the home of the Whitrope Heritage Centre. It is just south of the highest point on the line, the famous Whitrope Summit, 1006 ft above sea level.

Hermitage Water

The Hermitage Water is a river in Liddesdale, in the Scottish Borders area of Scotland. Among its many feeder burns are Braidley Burn, Dinley Burn, Gorrenberry Burn and Twislehope Burn. The Water flows through the hamlets of Dinley and Gorrenberry, and through the village of Hermitage, and past Hermitage Castle. It continues past Toftholm where it meets the B6399, and passes Newlands, Longhaugh, Leahaugh and Redheugh. At Sandholm it joins the Liddel Water and the dismantled railway.
