Battle of Fort Blakely

The Battle of Fort Blakely took place from April 2-April 9, 1865 in Baldwin County, Alabama, as part of the Mobile Campaign of the American Civil War. Maj. Gen. Edward Canby's Union forces, the XVI and XIII Corps, moved along the eastern shore of Mobile Bay, forcing the Confederates back into their defenses. Union forces then concentrated on Spanish Fort, Alabama and nearby Fort Blakely. By April 1, Union forces had enveloped Spanish Fort, thereby releasing more troops to focus on Fort Blakely.

The Apalachee River is a distributary river in Baldwin County, Alabama that forms part of the Mobile-Tensaw River Delta. Fish River (Alabama)

Fish River is a 28.9-mile-long river in Baldwin County, Alabama. It originates at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:30.74102|-87.79888||||||| | |name= }}, near Stapleton, and discharges into Weeks Bay at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:30.41353|-87.82526||||||| | |name= }} in Magnolia Springs. It was named by the original French colonists as the Riviere Aux Poissons, which can be translated into English as Fish River.
