Area code 205

205 is the North American telephone area code for western and central Alabama, including the cities of Birmingham and Tuscaloosa. It was created in 1947 as the sole area code in Alabama. In 1995, the southern half of the state was split off as area code 334. It was reduced to its current size in 1998, when the northern and eastern portions became area code 256. Area code 659 is scheduled to provide numbering relief for the 205 area but no implementation date has been announced.

Oak Grove High School (Jefferson County, Alabama)

Oak Grove High School is located in rural Jefferson County, Alabama, roughly 16 miles west of Hueytown. The school is operated by Jefferson County Board of Education. The current high school (grades 6-12) was completed in 2000. It replaced the former Oak Grove School which served all grades K-12 prior to 1998. Its location was on Lock 17 Road and today that site is Oak Grove Memorial Park. The current principal is Alan Pruden. Its vice principal is Rosemary Johnson.

Bankhead Lake

Bankhead Lake is a reservoir along the Black Warrior River that begins in Walker County in the state of Alabama. The lake forms the border between Jefferson and Tuscaloosa County, as well as the border dividing Jefferson and Walker County. It eventually empties into Holt Lake. Bankhead Lock and Dam and its reservoir is a project of the United States Army Corps of Engineers, while Alabama Power Company owns and operates the adjoining hydroelectric generating plant.

WXJC-FM (92.5 FM, "The Truth") is a radio station broadcasting a Southern Gospel and Talk format. Licensed to Cordova, Alabama, USA, the station serves the Birmingham, area. To compensate for its weak signal over much of the eastern and southern parts of the Birmingham metropolitan area, the station is simulcast on 850 AM. The station is licensed to Kimtron, Inc. and owned by Crawford Broadcasting.

Rock Creek, Alabama

Rock Creek is a census-designated place in Jefferson County, Alabama, United States. It is part of the Birmingham–Hoover–Cullman Combined Statistical Area. At the 2010 census the population was 1,456. This area was damaged by an F5 tornado on April 8, 1998. An EF2 tornado struck northwest from here on January 23, 2012.
